The 2009 ABX is here! Keep track of the event through our Brightkite wall or Twitter search!

#theabx — Year 4.

The bowling extravaganza that started in 2006 has seen 3 years, over 750 bowlers more than 1500 attendees. Year 4 is upon us and we're gearing up for another great gathering.

As always, we're dedicated to making sure we offer an awesome night of food, drinks, friends and bowling. However, learning from our past events, we've decided to relax the tournament format that we've used in the past. No longer will players be required to rush to the 300 Austin as soon as the clock strikes 7:00. You're free to bowl as much as you'd like whenever you can make it (since, for another year, the start of our event clashes with the Web Awards).

More information on the event will be revealed in the weeks to come! Make sure that you RSVP with us on either Facebook or Upcoming and keep up with us on Twitter! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at .

The Format

You don't have to form a team to bowl this year. If you'd like to just pick up a lane for a relaxing game with some friends, you're free to do so!

However, in order to be eligible for any of the prizes, your team has to be registered, either beforehand or the night of. This year's tournament format was created to be flexible. As such, it will be a simple asynchronous "best-average-score wins" tournament. All you have to do is the following:

  1. Register your team of 6.
  2. Show up to The 300 as early as 7:00 or as late as 10:00 (to give you time to bowl).
  3. Bowl a few rounds and we'll take your best round and average the scores up.
  4. Once you're happy, keep bowling or head off to the other parties being held that night.

The more teams that register beforehand, the better. It'll allow us to accurately predict how many teams we'll be keeping track of the night of. The only difference with this format is that results will more than likely not be tallied until late that night or up to a few days afterwards. With the amount of people expected to flow in and out the tournament, our winning team could be missing by the end of the night!

Anything else?

Why yes! We're in need of some bodies. :)

If you'd like to volunteer the night of the event, or if you, or your company would like to help sponsor the event, please contact me using the address above. We looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you on the 15th!
